Your money, your trips, your group — yours. Here's exactly what we collect and how we use it.

01What we collect

  • Account info — name, email, profile photo, optional phone number (if you opt into SMS nudges), optional Instagram handle (if you choose to display it on your profile).
  • Pool data — who's in, what's been anted, votes on the board, dates picked, chat messages, and status updates. Visible to the pool's crew only.
  • Financial metadata — contribution amounts, wallet balance, transaction history. ACH processing handled by Dwolla, Inc.; bank linking by Plaid Inc. — we never see your full bank account number, routing number, or online banking credentials.
  • Device + usage — app interactions and crash reports so we can tell what's working and where things break. Crash data is anonymized (no PII sent to our error reporter).
  • Push tokens — a device token used to deliver notifications you've opted into. Not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

02Who can see your pools

Pools are private to the crew. Members see the pool's status, contributions, and decisions. Anyone outside the pool sees nothing — Ante has no public feed.

The pool creator can invite via share-code or link. No one is added without consent.

03How money is held

ACH transfers are processed by Dwolla, Inc., a licensed money services business — not by Ante directly. We never custody your money. Bank account linking is handled by Plaid Inc. using read-only access to your bank; Ante receives only a token and your account's last 4 digits.

Withdrawals are standard ACH only (1–3 business days, $0.50 flat fee). To withdraw, you complete Dwolla's identity verification — that information is stored by Dwolla, not Ante. If a pool dissolves, contributions are returned to each member's Ante wallet immediately with no fee.

04Third-party sub-processors

We share data with the following companies only to the extent needed to operate the Services:

  • Dwolla, Inc. — ACH payment processing and payouts. Dwolla is a licensed money services business and handles identity verification (KYC) under its own privacy policy. Dwolla stores your name, DOB, and SSN last-4 for verification — Ante does not.
  • Plaid Inc. — bank account linking. Plaid handles your banking credentials via read-only access; Ante receives only a token and last-4 account digits. Plaid's end user privacy policy applies.
  • Supabase, Inc. — database, authentication, and serverless functions. Data stored in the US.
  • Sentry — anonymized crash reporting. PII is disabled; no user-identifiable data is transmitted.
  • Twilio, Inc. — SMS delivery for OTP verification and invite notifications. Phone numbers used only for the stated purpose.
  • Expo / EAS — app distribution and over-the-air updates.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with ad networks or data brokers.

05Your rights

  • Access + export — request a copy of your data at any time: privacy@theante.app.
  • Delete — close your account from within the app (Profile → Delete account). We delete what we hold within 30 days. Legal and financial records required by law may be retained longer.
  • Correct — fix anything wrong in your profile from within the app or by emailing us.
  • California residents (CCPA) — you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sale (we don't sell). Submit requests to privacy@theante.app.

06Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial transaction records under applicable regulations, typically 7 years). Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.

07SMS messages

When an Ante member invites you to a pool, we may send a single SMS to the phone number they provided. This message includes the inviter's name, the pool name, and a link to join.

  • Frequency — one message per invite. We don't send recurring messages to non-users.
  • Opt out — reply STOP to any message and you'll never hear from us again. Reply HELP for assistance.
  • Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan.
  • Your number — we don't share, sell, or rent phone numbers collected via invites to third parties.

08Changes

We'll update this page as the product evolves. Material changes get a heads-up in-app and via email — not buried in a 40-page document.
